I have joined a fantastic group of ladies, who are involved in a weekly blog project. Every Thursday, we will dazzle you with our insight on various topics. And each week, we take turns coming up with the idea for the blog topic. Please check out their blogs as well, listed under my Blogroll section. Just click on:
Froggie (Tracey): An experiment in knitting, writing- and life
Merry Land Girl (Melissa): Tales of a suburban mom who likes to talk about pop culture, books, Judaism, family, friendship and anything else that comes to mind.
Mom Of Many (Susanna): One Mom’s perspective on life, raising kids, knitting and other unrelated topics.
Melissa’s choice for topic this week was, appropriately, Halloween.
And all I can think about, is my little boy’s birthday today.
However, he was originally due on Halloween. Friends would joke about it. “You should name him Jason. Or Freddie. Or Michael Myers.” All names synonymous with famous horror movies. Luckily, Nolan decided to arrive in his own time- 11 days early.
This was Nolan’s first Halloween costume:
Both his daddy and I were so happy that he had arrived early, and was able to wear something. We didn’t go anywhere. We handed out candy. But having the ability to put a Halloween themed outfit on Nolan brought us tons of joy.
Looking at that picture, I am in awe how much Nolan has changed. He was so quiet, and calm. Now, he’s loud and very expressive. We were convinced he’d have his dad’s easy going nature. Now, neither of us are convinced. Nolan may have my stubborn, impatient tendencies.
This year, Nolan will get to accompany his big brother in all the festivities, including trick or treating. He will be dressed as a blue monster, and Ben will go as an Anubis guard. I’m almost as excited as the kids are!
Nolan my sweet boy; Happy Birthday. We love you! May you roar with strength and character, hopefully holding onto brother’s hand as you go door to door collecting candy, for Mommy and Daddy to eat.
Or are we?
